Why does my Viking range burn tall and orange in Denver?
Almost always because the burner orifices are the sea-level set. Denver sits about a mile above sea level, where there is roughly a sixth less oxygen in the same volume of air, so a burner metered for sea level runs rich. The flame stands tall, tips orange and sooties pan bottoms. The fix is the high-altitude orifice set for your model plus the air shutters reset — not a new burner assembly.

My fridge side is warming up but the freezer is still solid. What is that?
On a built-in that pattern is usually air, not refrigerant: an evaporator fan that has stopped, a defrost fault icing the coil so nothing can move through it, or a damper stuck shut. A blocked condenser or a shroud left off after earlier work will do it too. All four are cheaper than the sealed-system repair people fear, which is why we meter before quoting.
Do you work on the oven in a range as well as wall ovens?
Yes — range ovens, single and double wall ovens, and the gas or electric side of a dual-fuel range. Ignition, thermostats and probes that have drifted, convection blowers, door hinges and cracked inner glass. Why is there standing water left in my dishwasher after every cycle?
Check the filter and the sump first — a chip of glass or a fruit stone in the impeller stops a drain pump dead, and it is a ten-minute job. If the pump is clear, the next suspects are a drain hose that has lost its high loop behind the cabinet and a blocked air gap at the sink. A failed pump is the last thing on that list, not the first.
